I don’t have to tell you these are weird times we live in. I’m usually always out and about in the weekends. So staying at home might get really boring soon. That’s why I’m constantly thinking of things to do at home, like fun DIY’s and I this case: making the best sugar cookies!
If you’ve ever made cookies before, you know that most types of dough have to be chilled in the refrigerator for at least an hour or your cookies won’t hold their shape while baking. Now I don’t know about you, but if I want to bake cookies, I don’t want to have to wait before I can start. If you’re like me, this is the best recipe for you too!
Mix the dough, add colours if you like (I certainly do) and you’re ready to make the cutest cookies!
It’s an American review, so I’ll put the ingredients in grams and milliliters below:
- 225 grams of cold butter
- 200 grams of granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 5 ml vanilla extract
- 360 grams of flour
- 10 grams of baking powder
Mix all that together and start making cookies! I would advise you to not work too slowly though. The warmer the dough gets, the more it will lose shape in the oven. If you find your dough is getting a bit to warm and sticky, there’s nothing else you can do except putting it in the fridge for a while. But if you don’t take an hour to make the cookies you’ll be just fine!
I made these super cute marbled Autumn leaf cookies! They’re still my favourite cookie cutters because the shapes are very cute and the corners aren’t so small that pieces of dough will get stuck. You might recognize them from my homemade tortilla chips! What’s your favourite cookie cutter shape?
